A Kensington Palace representative clarified this week that Kate Middleton is not expected to return to work until it is cleared by her doctors.

Royal fans were given a glimmer of hope with the news that Kate is still involved in projects and initiatives with her Royal Foundation’s Business Task Force for Youth. However, new sources indicate that her return to public duties may take longer than anticipated. Royal reporter Richard Eden shared new insights with the Daily Mail, revealing that the Princess of Wales’s ongoing work with the task force should not be seen as a sign of her imminent return to public-facing responsibilities.

“It is certainly a fact that Catherine’s work with the Royal Foundation’s Business Task Force for Youth and this latest report is a testament to her dedication to the cause,” Eden wrote. “But I believe we should not read more into it than that.” Eden further revealed that his sources suggest that a Middleton return has virtually no chance of happening this summer. Even if she is fully recovered, we might not see Catherine again until the autumn, he added.

Bearing additional responsibilities is not a priority for the princess right now. Middleton and Prince William were scheduled to appoint a president for Kensington Palace’s recruitment firm, Aers Burnson, but the position remains vacant as Middleton continues her cancer battle. Eden was reportedly informed by a source that no one wants to put any pressure on Catherine. “The only thing that matters right now is her getting better,” the source said. “She has been through an ordeal this year, and major decisions like the appointment of new staff can wait. It reflects her importance to the future of the monarchy that she has been given as much time as she needs.”

Unlike King Charles, who continues to work while undergoing cancer treatment, Middleton has not made any public appearances. Consequently, the hashtag #WhereIsKateMiddleton has continued to trend on social media. Middleton has stayed out of the public eye because of her unique position in the monarchy. Kensington Palace explained that the royal is not returning to public engagements at the moment, amid a new report from one of the Princess of Wales’s closest causes, the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood, released this week. The princess is not expected to return to work until cleared by her medical team, a representative told the BBC on Tuesday, adding that early childhood will continue to be central to her public work.

“In January, I underwent major stomach surgery in London, and at that time, it was believed that my condition was non-cancerous,” the princess said then. “My medical team subsequently advised that I undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” she said. Since Kate’s announcement, a palace spokesperson stated that the princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do. However, the palace has yet to provide any updates regarding Kate’s condition. The Princess of Wales will most likely not appear in public until the end of the year and is being surrounded by her family as she continues a course of preventative chemotherapy following her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Royal sources and friends of Kate Middleton and Prince William have told the Daily Mail that Kate and her family are expected to spend next week, which is a school holiday, at their farmhouse on the Sandringham estate. Her parents, to whom she is close, are likely to visit her. After the royal family announced that they would be stepping back from some engagements to avoid distracting from a snap UK general election scheduled for July 4th, William will likely spend even more time with his family over the next six weeks.
