Prince William has returned to duty amid Princess Catherine’s illness. The heir to the British throne resumed Royal duties after the Easter holidays, which he and his family spent at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

On Thursday, the 18th of April, he visited Surplus to Supper, a charity in Su that distributes food to those in need. It is William’s first work outing since his wife Catherine announced her battle with cancer.

Donning an apron, the future king of the United Kingdom helped unload the food truck and prepare food in the kitchen of the foundation’s headquarters at Sunbury Cricket Club. In particular, they cooked spaghetti with Bolognese sauce.

During the visit, one of the volunteers, 71-year-old Rachel Kapa, gave Prince William two cards for the Princess of Wales and King Charles III. They contained touching wishes for a speedy recovery. The Prince of Wales thanked her and said it was very kind of her. Kapa then asked His Highness to take care of the princess, to which he replied by putting his hand on her shoulder, “Yes, I will.”

Surplus to Supper was founded in 2017 and is dedicated to finding and redistributing surplus food that would otherwise be thrown away. The charity currently collects 10 tons of food a week and distributes this to schools, care homes, shelters, faith-based organizations, youth centers, and others in need.

The public appearance of William, Prince of Wales, came shortly after the news that his younger brother, Prince Harry, had changed his residence on his papers. Now, instead of the United Kingdom, the United States of America is listed there. The information about the changes came amid pressure on the administration of Joe Biden to release Prince Harry’s Visa information.

Last week, Prince William attended the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinal between English Club Aston Villa and French Club Lille. He was accompanied by his eldest son, 10-year-old Prince George. It was the first public appearance of one of the couple’s children amid their mum, Princess Catherine’s illness.

Medics discovered that the Princess of Wales had cancer after undergoing abdominal surgery in January this year. In a video with which her Highness quashed all previous rumors about her condition, she explained the long lull in media space to accept the hard news. She also needed time to explain everything to her children, not only 10-year-old Prince George but also 8-year-old Princess Charlotte and 5-year-old Prince Louis.

According to one version, Catherine, Princess of Wales, was forced to release the video message because of the threat of leaks. In addition, the published video prevented the further spread of various rumors and speculations regarding the princess’s condition.

Prince William is standing firmly with his wife as she navigates her cancer diagnosis.

Today, the Prince and Princess of Wales released their first joint statement since Kate’s announcement Friday about her health.

“The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the U.K., across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message,” the statement from a Kensington Palace spokesperson and obtained by Harper’s Bazaar reads. “They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”

William has not spoken out individually on his wife’s condition, but Kate said in her

emotional video message that they have been spending quality time at home, with their kids.

Kate’s announcement was shared on Kensington Palace’s social media accounts, shocking the world. In it, she explained that doctors found the presence of cancer after she underwent an abdominal surgery in January. “The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” she said. “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Now, Kate is continuing her treatment and healing at home, with her loved ones. She said in the video: “William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance, too,” Kate continued. “As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

She also revealed that she and William told their three kids—Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5—about her diagnosis and assured them: “I’m going to be okay.”

She further asked the public to grant her and her family “some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment.”

Kate and William, who met as students at the University of St Andrews in 2001, dated for about 10 years before marrying in a beautiful royal ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Apr 29, 2011. They have since welcomed three children. (Look back at the timeline of their love story here.)
