Princess Kate ‘will have to rethink’ major part of role as sister Pippa could get key job
The Princess of Wales “will have to rethink” a major part of her role once she becomes Queen, claims one royal expert.
Pippa Middleton could be considered for the role of her sister’s lady-in-waiting once she becomes Queen, according to a royal expert.
Kate, Princess of Wales will become Queen in the future once her husband, Prince William ascends to the throne – and she may need to re-onsider a major part of her role as a senior member of the Firm.
Royal historian Kate Williams told the latest episode of the Royal Beat podcast: “I think traditionally, we might expect Catherine to appoint her sister Pippa, [as her lady in waiting] because Catherine is so famously close to her family.
“She doesn’t have companions because she she’s so close to her mother and her sister.”
Speaking of Pippa, who famously wowed fans at her sister’s royal wedding in 2011, Ms Williams said: “I think we might possibly expect that Pippa might be someone she might appoint. But then, of course, Pippa has her own life. Three children, a busy life of her own. It’s a fascinating question.”
Ms Williams added: “And the role is definitely evolving at the same time. It’s evolving, but the job of a monarch and a consort isn’t getting any smaller.
“The letters, the correspondence, the emails are growing every day. So when Catherine becomes Queen, the levels of tours, the levels of letters, the level of receptions, will still require this assistance.
“So I think she will have to appoint some ladies in waiting.”
Pippa shares a close bond with her elder sister Kate
Speaking of her close bond with her sister, Pippa told NBC in 2014: “We have a very normal, sisterly relationship. And, you know, we support each other and get each other’s opinions and things.”
Like Kate, Pippa has three young children, including her youngest Rose, who was born in 2022.
As well as having one another, Kate and Pippa also have a younger brother named James – who they are both equally as close to.
Pippa Middleton also has three children like Kate and William
It was recently reported that Pippa has opened up the £1.5m Bucklebury Farm Park lodge to host “parties, events and pilates”.
This comes after the sisters’ mum, Carole Middleton’s party business ‘Party Pieces’ went into administration last year.
Writing for the Mail, Richard Eden said: “Carole’s son-in-law, James Matthews, bought Bucklebury Farm in Berkshire for £1.5million in 2020. Now, I hear, he’s opening its lodge for parties, as well as events and even Pilates.”
