According to royal author and expert Robert Jobson, who has a new book out on Prince William’s wife, he says that Kate Middleton didn’t even want to take the Princess of Wales title after Queen Elizabeth died.

That was because she didn’t want anyone to make too many comparisons between her and Princess Diana. But out of respect to King Charles, she finally caved in and took it.

Robson even put it this way, “Indeed, it got to the point where she felt she might follow Camilla (who opted to become Duchess of Cornwall) in refusing,” while also adding, “Enough time had passed to make the title more palatable, and Catherine had been on the world stage long enough to be appreciated for her own qualities.”

He continued, “The truth is that she is very different from Diana: better educated, far more stable and less concerned about making a splash as a glamorous icon.”

As much as Kate Middleton doesn’t want to be compared to Princess Diana, it’s not like this is something that she can avoid altogether. That’s just because both of them are married or at least were once married to the future kings of England.
