Prince William makes rare comment about Kate’s recovery and reveals why children are ‘very jealous’ of him
During his overnight visit to Cornwall, the Prince of Wales gave an update on the state of his wife, Princess Catherine, while stopping at the Isles of Scilly.
Employees at St. Mary’s Community Hospital inquired about Prince William, 41,’s health as he arrived. The Princess of Wales is undergoing preventative chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer.
The three-parent father said that Catherine is “doing well” and that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are “very jealous” of his trip to the Cornish coast’s islands.
William acknowledged that he wished he could stay when he met with residents and businesses on St Mary’s Harbour earlier in the day.
“My family are very upset I’m here without them,” he said with a laugh. “The children will kill me if I don’t go home later.”
William had never been to the Isles of Scilly before, not since he was made Duke of Cornwall. Rumor has it that the Prince and Princess of Wales have taken their three kids on summer vacations to Tresco, the same island where William’s parents, Charles and Diana, and younger brother, Harry, used to vacation as a child.
“I can’t believe the islands today when you’ve got weather like this, it’s just beautiful,” he continued to say to the others. It was nice that I was able to swim yesterday since I was wearing a wetsuit.”
William was briefed by the staff at St. Mary’s Community Hospital about the difficulties in providing medical care in an island environment, including anecdotal evidence of a baby born in midair while on a journey to the mainland.
The plans for the hospital’s new integrated health and social care facility, which is scheduled to be constructed on nearby Duchy of Cornwall land, were then discussed with him. Twelve beds for residential care homes, NHS inpatient beds, and a contemporary maternity suite will all be available with the extension.
The Duchy of Cornwall, which owns most of the Isles of Scilly and almost one-third of all residential buildings, pays the Prince an income as the heir apparent to the throne. The Duchy is composed of a portfolio of land, properties, and investments.
On Thursday, William visited a housing project at Nansledan in Newquay, part of the Duchy of Cornwall, and then played volleyball on Fistral Beach while chatting with local life-saving organizations.
