Royal fans were delighted after they caught a glimpse of Prince George sitting next to his father, the Prince of Wales, during today’s FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium in London.

The match sees Manchester City and Manchester United go head-to-head for a chance at the major trophy as well as a £2million prize.

The Daily Express exclusively reported last night that the second in line to the throne, who regularly attends football games with his father, was expected to join him today for the highly-anticipated Wembley final.

Prince William, who is president of the Football Association, shook hands with the teams’ players before taking his seat alongside his son in the royal box shortly before the 3pm kick off.

The pair appeared to be in high spirits as they took their seats and looked at the stadium.

William will also present the trophy to the winners.

Father and son, who are both passionate Aston Villa fans, melted hearts back in April when they watched Aston Villa play Lille in the first leg of the Europa Conference League quarter-final.

The 10-year-old wore a Villa-branded scarf as the pair applauded and smiled as their team secured a 2-1 victory.

William could be seen applauding after the opening goal against Lille before turning to speak to his son.

That was the duo’s first public appearance since the Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis in March.

It comes as the Royal Family announced that they would be postponing engagements “which may appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign” after Rishi Sunak called a snap General Election for July 4.

King Charles and Prince William had to cancel several engagements, however, Trooping The Colour was given the green light to take place later in June.
