Prince Harry Appears in New Video as the Invictus Games Prepare to Head to Canada
The montage also featured footage of Meghan Markle at a previous Invictus competition
Prince Harry is making a cameo in a new video promoting the next iteration of his Invictus Games.
On Sept. 5, the Duke of Sussex, 39, appeared in a clip shared to X by the official account for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. King Charles’ younger son is a former captain in the British Army and established the Invictus Games in 2014 as an international adaptive sports tournament for service personnel and veterans as a means for healing.
The new video was narrated by Major (Retired) Patrick Lévis, a former Team Canada competitor who competed at the Invictus Games in The Hague, Netherlands in 2022. It was interspersed with personal photos and footage from Invictus events past — including Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle wrapping Team U.K. athlete Lisa Johnston in a warm hug after she won gold in shot put at the 2022 competition.
“Sport has the ability to heal, to change lives and to save lives. For so many of these competitors, getting to the start line can be one of the hardest moments of their life. But at the Games, their lives are changed,” Prince Harry said in the video.
“Watching these magical moments happen and sport being the facilitator of that is very, very special for all of us to witness,” he added in the clip, set to uplifting music as action footage rolled — including Lévis competing.
“I am Patrick Lévis, and the Invictus Games changed my life,” he said. “Don’t miss the chance to let them change yours,” he added, directing viewers to the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025’s website to pre-register for tickets.
“We can’t wait to see you,” Prince Harry said with a smile as the video closed.
After a decade in the British Armed Forces, including two tours in Afghanistan, the Duke of Sussex launched the Invictus Games in London in 2014 to empower wounded, sick and injured servicemen and women through sports.
The event has since become a worldwide phenomenon, changing the lives of soldiers and their families from dozens of countries.
“I truly believe that we are at our best when we’re in service to others, and Invictus is all about upholding that value,” Prince Harry told PEOPLE in 2022.
The next Invictus Games will be held in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada in February 2025, and winter sports like alpine skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, Nordic skiing, skeleton and wheelchair curling will be introduced for the first time. The upcoming cycle will be the seventh Invictus Games, following the competitions in London (2014), Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017), Sydney (2018), The Hague (2022, after being bumped from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and Düsseldorf (2023).
Prince Harry and Meghan, 43, kickstarted the countdown to the upcoming Invictus Games in British Columbia at the One Year to Go celebration in February, where the Duke of Sussex tried some of the new winter sports himself.
