“@england, your teamwork, grit, and determination were an inspiration to all of us, young and old,” stated William and Catherine’s private message. Spain deserves congratulations. W and C.

Unfortunately, Gareth Southgate’s team was not to be, as Spain scored a goal in the 88th minute to win and claim the trophy.

England came dangerously close to tying the score, and cameras caught William and George’s frustrated looks at their wasted opportunities.

In the meantime, Princess Charlotte went to Wimbledon with her sister Pippa Matthews and her mother, Catherine, to watch the Men’s Singles Final.

The three of them watched the match between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, in which the latter won the trophy for the second consecutive year.

As she continues her cancer treatment, Catherine made her second appearance in public this year at the match, following Trooping the Colour.

Even though William and George appeared devastated by England’s defeat, the Prince gave the team a heartfelt message of support by stating, “This time it just wasn’t meant to be! We all still adore you very much.”

Before the game, the four royals posed for a picture together, including King Felipe of Spain and his youngest daughter, Infanta Sofia, 17. The two heirs were seated next to them.

George had previously supported England at a European Championship final, having been spotted jubilantly celebrating the Three Lions’ early goal with William and Catherine in the Euro 2020 final.

William, the Football Association’s president and an ardent supporter of Aston Villa, has brought George to several of the team’s games this season; the young Prince frequently wears the team’s scarf.
